Thanks to the support of Regione Lombardia under the Call “Towards New Markets: Supporting the Internationalization of Lombardy-based Companies”, RIC3D S.r.l. is developing the CARDIOSHIFT project: Internationalization of ROG Technologies for Cardiovascular Health and Functional Electronics.
The project supports the internationalization of two proprietary RIC3D assets: the ROG (Real Organ Generator) platform and a patented multifunctional resin. The plan is primarily focused on promoting the resin as the main export product, while ROG also serves a demonstrative and application-oriented role.
CARDIOSHIFT looks in particular to the U.S. market, with the aim of creating the conditions for future business relationships and collaborations in the fields of cardiovascular health, clinical simulation, and advanced materials for industrial and electronic applications. To this end, the project is structured around clinical and industrial scouting activities, content localization, adaptation of the technology to the U.S. regulatory framework, development of dedicated digital tools, and online promotion with the support of the U.S. partner 2gethertech C Corp.

Call: Towards New Markets: Supporting the Internationalization of Lombardy-based Companies
Overall objective: To support companies wishing to begin their internationalization journey through the definition and implementation of a dedicated Internationalization Action Plan aimed at fostering stronger involvement and deeper integration in foreign markets.
Brief description: Internationalization in the United States of two proprietary technologies: the ROG software platform, based on artificial intelligence for the generation of personalized three-dimensional organ models, and a patented resin that is biocompatible, sterilizable, insulating, and moisture-resistant.
Purpose
CARDIOSHIFT was created to turn the innovative potential of the technologies developed by RIC3D into an initial, concrete path toward entering the U.S. market.
More specifically, the project aims to:
- activate at least one preliminary operational agreement with a U.S. hospital interested in ROG;
- establish exploratory contacts with at least two industrial organizations interested in the resin;
- create an English-language minisite to support the international visibility of the technology;
- adapt the platform and its contents to U.S. regulatory requirements, in particular HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and FDA (Food and Drug Administration) standards;
- begin an initial commercial localization process in view of more structured future developments.
The goal is not simply to promote a technology, but to prepare it concretely for entry into a competitive market by building the tools, contents, and relationships needed for the next steps.
The project
The CARDIOSHIFT project is based on two complementary technological elements.
The first is ROG, a proprietary software platform that processes clinical images such as CT scans and MRIs to generate personalized 3D organ models, with an initial focus on the human heart. Through artificial intelligence modules, the platform automates anatomical segmentation, customizes geometries, and produces models compatible with 3D printing, with applications in clinical practice, education, and surgical planning.
The second element is a patented multifunctional resin, covered by international application PCT/IB2023/062233, published as WO 2024/121735. The material is biocompatible, sterilizable, insulating, and moisture-resistant, and can be used both in medical prototyping and in industrial and electronic applications.
The target market identified is the United States, with particular attention to Massachusetts and California, areas characterized by the presence of major clinical, technological, and industrial hubs.
To support entry into the U.S. market, the project is structured around:
- the creation of a co-branded English-language minisite hosted on a U.S. domain;
- translation and localization of technical and promotional content;
- adaptation of the ROG platform to HIPAA requirements on privacy and security;
- development of a dedicated AI module for cardiac segmentation, along with technical and compliance documentation for the target market.
The project also includes targeted digital campaigns, scouting activities, localized CRM tools, and remote support services, together with internal training on HIPAA and FDA regulations and on intercultural communication in the U.S. B2B context.
Results
CARDIOSHIFT supports RIC3D’s internationalization path through activities, relationships, and visibility opportunities that are strengthening the international positioning of ROG and the patented resin developed by the company.
From a commercial and strategic perspective, the project helps create the conditions for new collaborations with clinical, academic, industrial, and institutional stakeholders, with particular attention to the U.S. market and to the main international health-tech ecosystems.
From a technological standpoint, CARDIOSHIFT supports the adaptation of products, content, and digital tools to the relevant target contexts, strengthening the international maturity of the solutions developed by RIC3D. In this process, ROG is consolidating its role as a platform for surgical simulation, advanced visualization, and medical training, while the proprietary resin is confirming its value as an innovative and versatile material with biomedical and industrial applications.
The project also helps enhance Lombardy’s innovation ecosystem by promoting abroad a technology developed locally and strengthening RIC3D’s presence in high-intensity environments for research, education, and technology transfer. In this context, the project has developed interactions with leading players in the clinical and academic world. These include opportunities for exchange with Mayo Clinic, recognized as one of the world’s leading hospital, research, and medical training centers, and with Temple University in Philadelphia. These interactions help broaden the dialogue around the potential of ROG in simulation, surgical planning, and advanced training.

An important role is also played by the collaboration with the American University in Dubai (AUD). The collaboration agreement that has been signed has helped give ROG visibility within the university, in line with the nature of the platform not only as a tool for surgical simulation, but also as support for the training of students, researchers, and future professionals in the fields of medicine, immersive technologies, and health innovation.

This path toward international expansion also develops through dialogue with other players in the U.S. academic world, as in the case of interactions with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and with Prof. Fabrizio Billi, Adjunct Professor at the UCLA School of Medicine. These exchanges strengthen RIC3D’s presence in highly scientific and technology-driven environments.
These relationships are complemented by networking and exchange opportunities within international health innovation ecosystems. During LA Tech Week, held in Los Angeles from October 13 to 19, 2025, participation in the events “Longevity: Investable Science”, hosted by Monarch Athletic Club and The Reason, and “Global LAVA: Korea Health Tech Live Pitch & Networking Event 2025”, organized by LAVA – Los Angeles Venture Association in collaboration with the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Los Angeles and the Cedars-Sinai Accelerator, provided RIC3D with a valuable setting for dialogue on longevity, healthcare innovation, and international connections in the health-tech sector.

On the trade fair and institutional front, the project is part of an already active international presence strategy. In Japan, RIC3D’s participation in the Osaka Biotech & Pharma Networking Event 2025, at Grand Green Osaka, and in Japan Health 2025, hosted at INTEX Osaka, helped present ROG to an international audience of researchers, clinicians, investors, and industrial partners.

In Asia, this path continues through participation in the EU Business Hub @ KIMES 2026 mission in Seoul, where RIC3D is presenting ROG within one of the leading international contexts dedicated to the Korean healthcare ecosystem, creating opportunities for exchange with hospitals, simulation centers, medical imaging innovators, and potential technology partners.
